Dr. Reeves joined Stephens Psychiatry in January 2019. JENNIFER TERKELSEN,LISW-CP
Jenn Terkelsen is a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Clinical Practice with ten years
experience helping clients with a variety of challenges. While specializing in trauma, Jenn
has worked with clients managing depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship issues and
substance use disorder. Her goal is to help individuals find purpose and live their fullest lives.
Jenn has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the State University of New York
and earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Boston University. She is a former
oncology research scientist and has years of experience balancing a competitive career
while raising a family. This challenging period in her life taught her the importance of
taking care of your mental health and led to a passion for helping other people with similar
challenges. Jenn’s focus on trauma drew her to professional roles including work as an In
Home Therapist for the State of Massachusetts (helping vulnerable children and their
families); Program Director for Highpoint Treatment Center; and Clinician for WellSpring
Farm (providing outpatient services using equine assisted therapy and EMDR).
Jenn's individualized approach to therapy starts with creating a space where clients feel
seen, as this is a necessary first step for change to begin. Jenn uses multiple treatment
approaches with those in her care, including trauma-focused CBT (Cognitive based
therapy), DBT (Dialectical behavior therapy), and IFS (Internal family systems). She has
also completed EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) training and has had success helping clients resolve childhood trauma. Life can be hard under the best of circumstances, but when you find yourself stuck in the past, it can seem unbearable. Jenn is committed to helping her clients to learn to have love and compassion for themselves so that they can build a foundation for a more balanced and happy life. This is hard work, but, having been there herself, Jenn promises to be a faithful and compassionate guide through the process. As a trauma survivor, I know how hard it can be to establish and maintain
relationships, especially the relationship with yourself, and I understand how important support and guidance is for transformation.
